Dr. Alejandro Gutiérrez teaches courses on Sustainable Innovation and Energy Engineering. His interest focuses on innovation methodologies and their application to renewable energy systems, mainly refrigeration systems powered by thermal solar energy, an area in which he has registered patents and published results
Before joining the Universidad de Monterrey as an associate professor, Dr. Gutiérrez was part of GEIQ, the General Electric Center for Advanced Engineering in Turbomachinery, where he worked on the development of unidimensional thermodynamic models to predict the performance of aviation and power generation turbomachines. In addition to this, he helped to consolidate groups for the promotion of innovation and the connection of the organization with research centers.
He started his teaching career as a professor and director of thesis projects for the Master’s degree program in Product Engineering, at the Division of Engineering and Technologies of the Universidad de Monterrey, teaching the courses Comprehensive Product Development and the Seminar on Product Engineering. He also was a professor and thesis director with CIATEQ, the CONACyT’s Center for Advanced Technology, in the graduate programs in Administration and Management of Engineering Projects and Advanced Manufacture, where he taught courses such as Solution Theories for Inventive Problems, Management for New Product Development, and Product Design and Development.
