An illustrator, multidisciplinary artist, and graphic designer residing in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. His work is characterized by a ludic and instinctive exploration of human behavior in recurring themes of fascination of the unknown, the decontextualization of the mundane, and nostalgia. Concurrently, he works as an educator, seeking to create tangible awareness about the link between illustration, art, and graphic and industrial design. He holds an MFA (Master in Fine Arts degree) in from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). He was a receiver of a Fulbright scholarship for studies abroad, granted by Fulbright Comexus-García Robles.
Among other honors, he has been successively selected winner of the calls for proposals Latin American Ilustración 2, Latin American Ilustración TR3S, Latin American Ilustración 4, and Latin American Ilustración 5. He was also selected for the itinerant exhibition “Los Diez” sponsored by Epson and held at the Orensanz Foundation (in New York, Manhattan), CasaTinta, (in Colombia), and Photoville (Brooklyn). He has received honorable mentions in the call for proposals for 3x3 illustration 3x3 The Magazine for Contemporary Illustration and he was a semifinalist in the 2014 edition of the Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA) in the categories Illustration and packaging design. Additionally, he participated in the exhibition Pictoplasma, in the collective of artists #Character selfie, in Berlin, and at the MARCO Museum in Monterrey.
Additionally, he was selected to be part of the first class of PICTOPLASMA Academy Mexico, taught in Mexico City for the first time. Two collective exhibitions of characters resulted from the course. They were held in Monterrey and Mexico City. He has had 24 collective exhibitions at the national and international level, among which stand out the ones carried out in China, Germany, Colombia, Washington DC, North Carolina, New York, Baltimore, and Mexico (Tijuana, Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, and 2 individual exhibitions. He is currently working on his third individual exhibition, which will be held in galleries 1 and 2 of the Roberto Garza Sada Center of the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM).
An outstanding part of his work experience is his work as an editorial illustrator with the newspaper El Norte and at universities like the Maryland Institute College of Art, Arte AC, the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Universidad Valle de México, Universidad Regiomontana, LCI Monterrey Campus as a workshop facilitator, a lecturer, and an assistant professor, respectively.
He is currently working as an adjunct professor at the undergraduate degree and master’s degree levels in the department of Graphic Design at the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM).
