M. Arq. Mariano Ferretti began his teaching career at the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina in his first years as a professional, upon his return from studying his Master program at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona, from 1999 to 2001.
Concurrently with his teaching activity, from 2002 to 2004 he worked on domestic projects and consultancies until he returned to live in the city of Barcelona, for the 2004-2010 period. During this period, he had the opportunity of developing small and mid-size Architecture and Public Space projects, for various firms in the sector.
In those years, he was a member of the IALA network -Architectural Research for Latin America, a group of architects from Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, and Venezuela with whom he has developed participatory and cooperative projects with intermediary institutions in Spain, Venezuela, and Mexico, receiving the award the “Best Research Project” at the “VI Latin American Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism (Lisbon, 2008) under the title: "Urban ecotones. A new identity of disfigured peripheries and limit to territorial dispersion.”
In 2010, he moved to Mexico where he continued his teaching career as an undergraduate level professor at the Universidad De La Salle Bajío (UDLSB) and the Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) in the city of León, Guanajuato and in the Master’s degree programs in Architectural Design and Construction Technologies, as well as a researcher by competition in subjects related with Urbanism and Public Space at the School of Architecture of the Universidad de la Salle Bajío. He has also been a visiting professor at the Escuela de Arquitectura de Guadalajara (ESARQ) in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, where he has participated in roundtables and taught courses in topics of Modern Architecture and Public Space in the diploma course on Landscape at the same institution.
He has published and presented various articles on topics related to modern architecture, urban morphology and public space and he has taught courses at the graduate level. He has also participated in conferences, exhibitions, and roundtables on the domestic project of Modern Architecture in Spain, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, and Uruguay.
In 2015, he published the book “The diverse city: an analysis of the disjointed tissues of the city of León, Guanajuato“ (La ciudad diversa: análisis de los tejidos desarticulados en la ciudad de León. Guanajuato). (Mexico)
He is currently doing a doctorate in the Doctorate in Architecture Interinstitutional Program (PIDA) of the Universidad de Guanajuato (UG).
