Marina Garza is an associate professor at the Department of Graphic Design, where she leads courses and workshops oriented to the development of creative generation through experimental processes focusing on the visual organization of composition with basic elements. Likewise, her interest centers on the use of typography and the creativity of image applied to strategic communication and persuasion processes.
Her analytical interest on graphic design is reflected in various publications such as the book “Textos de gráficos” (Graphic Texts), which documents experiences to strengthen designers in areas such as typography and design and packaging strategies. In “Actas de diseño” (Acts of Design), published in Argentina, and in the book “La investigación en diseño, una visión desde los posgrados en México” (Research in Design, an overview from graduate programs in Mexico).
Moreover, Marina Garza’s graphic production has been published in books and specialized journal by the most renowned national and international publishing houses specializing in Graphic Design, such as Graphis and Print´s Regional Design Annual. Her work has been selected for the books Genius Moves, One Hundred Icons of Graphic Design, Graphic Design, Inspiration & Innovations 2, and The Best of Brochure Design 5, which include a part of her work.
As a result of her teaching, a! Diseño, How Magazine, Icograda, and others have repeatedly awarded the highest honors to the work she has done in collaboration with her students, receiving the Premio Plata y first place Trophies, honorable mentions, recognitions, etc. Consequently, these projects have also been published in various books and journals related to the field of design.
Marina Garza has received several acknowledgements, including being a Fulbright scholarship recipient and receiving the Zangrilli Endowment Fund from The Pennsylvania State University for academic excellence. At UDEM, she has been appointed Dean of the Department of Graphic Design. As a professor of Graphic Design, she has been awarded the highest honor that the Universidad de Monterrey bestows on faculty members for their professional excellence in teaching the "Roberto Garza Sada Pro Magistro Award.”
She currently works as a professor at the Department of Graphic Design of the Universidad de Monterrey.
