Sustainable Innovation and Energy Engineering

Our graduates will be leading professionals, with ethical foundations and a solid commitment to society and the environment so as to generate competitiveness and innovation.

Mexico is currently going into a phase of energy transition and it is also migrating toward a low-carbon economy, with important challenges to urban development and to the production sectors. Therefore, it is of the essence to create a new profile that can break paradigms in order to propose, assess, and create schemes and strategies for sustainable development and the energy future.

The most brilliant, forward-looking, and creative IISE students have the opportunity of being part of the Roberto Garza Sada Center (CRGS), a space for ideas and expressions that brings together and develops the best creative talent in Latin America, with IISE working on opportunities and challenges to create a humanely intelligent community.

Aim of degree program

To train enterprising professionals who are socially responsible and mindful of energy and resources use, capable of generating and making decisions concerning the design, assessment, and management of sustainability and energy projects. 

To train agents of change who contribute to the well-being and quality of life of people and the environment, with a high sense of innovation and strategic vision, capable of generating interdisciplinary proposals and solutions to meet the needs of current markets as regards energy and environment prospects.

Admission profile

Candidates to enter the IISE program should be highly analytical and observant. They distinguish themselves for being ethical, highly proactive individuals. They are interested in the problems and opportunities present in social and environmental projects. They have high capacity for synthesis and to assess alternatives for decision-making and the execution of projects.

Student learning outcomes

  • Train students with a profile of entrepreneurial initiative, social responsibility and consciousness of the correct use of energy and resources. 

  • Develop a high sense of innovation and strategic vision.

  • Train students who can generate interdisciplinary proposals and solutions for today’s market, as well as for the future of energy and the environment. 

  • Train agents of change who contribute to the well-being and quality of life of people and the environment. 

  • Communicate their ideas and concepts by presenting projects with technical foundations, economic feasibility, and social and environmental impact. 

  • Use technology for the modeling, prototyping, and development of technology for energy and sustainability. 

  • Interact with interdisciplinary teams in areas such as research and development, environmental engineering, architecture and urbanism, alternative energy, green business, norms and legislation on the environment and energy, to name a few.
