Biography

A multimedia artist, teacher, and researcher. She holds an MFA in Media Arts from SUNNY, Buffalo, NY, with a Fulbright scholarship– Colciencias in 2010. She is interested in creation from technological hybrid techniques and methodologies. Her work has been exhibited in Alemania Bauhaus – Universite, in Weimar; The New School for Social Research, in the United States, and the Banco de la República, in Colombia, as well as in festivals such as Pixel Point in Slovenia, Loop in Barcelona, Klex in Malaysia, Megapolis in NY; Videograma; and the International Image Festival, in Colombia.

As a researcher, she has participated in the edition of books and district programs in Art Education, Science, and Technology. She worked at the Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá as an assistant professor and she is currently an assistant professor with the Universidad de Monterrey, Mexico.

Her most recent work focuses on the naturalization of vision mediated by devices willing to observe. In 2004 and 2005 she led the research project Videored: Hacia la creación colectiva de video en Internet (Videored: Toward the Collective Creation of Video on the Internet) with support from the 2008 Banco Santander scholarship for New Technologies. This project received an honorable mention at the 11th International Image Festival in Colombia and it is part of the Arte≠vida: acciones por artistas de las Américas (Art≠life: actions for artists of the Americas) collection of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia. Videored generated a dynamic webpage (www.javeriana.edu.co/videored/) and the book “Codificar/decodificar: prácticas, espacios y temporalidades del audiovisual en Internet” (Coding/Decoding: practices, spaces, and temporalities of the audiovisual media on the Internet).
