Jorge Galván

Professor of Architecture

Biography

Jorge Galván graduated in Architecture from ITESM Monterrey Campus. He holds a Master in Landscape degree from Texas A&M University, College Station, USA and a diploma in Real State from the ITESM School of Management and Business.  He has more than ten years’ experience in work administration, landscape and urban design and master planning projects.

He is currently a professor with the department of Architecture at the Universidad de Monterrey. He has been a visiting professor at the Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño de Chihuahua, ISAD and the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, ITESM.

He participates as a researcher with UDEM’s Urbana Center for urbanism, design, and sustainable Architecture, where he has developed numerous projects including the urban regeneration of the historical center of the municipality of Cadereyta Jiménez, the master plan and design of the Petróleos Mexicanos Municipal Auditorium in Cadereyta Jiménez, the master regeneration plan of the Mitras Industrial zone in García, N.L., and the municipal urban plan for the municipality of Nuevo Peñasco, Sonora. At present, he represents the Universidad de Monterrey in the committee of the Agency for the Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources of Nuevo León and in the committee for the Sustainable Agenda of the municipality of San Pedro, N.L.

He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, ASLA international chapter, the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, CELA international chapter, the Professional Association of Architects of Nuevo León, and a full member of the Academy of Architecture, northern chapter.

He has collaborated in forums of various organizations in the private and educational sectors, including the Association of Institutions for the teaching of Architecture in the Mexican Republic ASINEA, the U.S. Green Building Council, the Water Institute of the state of Nuevo León, IMPLAN of San Pedro N.L., and the CENEVAL’s committee for the preparation of the national exit exam for architects.
