Irma Peñúñuri

Director of the Academic Program in Industrial Design

Biography

She graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Industrial Design from the Universidad de Monterrey. She pursued a Master’s degree in New Product Design and Development with an emphasis on Ecodesign at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.  She has taken various non-degree diploma courses and specialized courses in Lifecycle Management, and Environment and Energy Management Systems, the reporting of GEI emmissions, carbon footprint, as well as courses related to social responsibility.

Her professional experience has led her to work and carry out projects for national and international corporations such as Vitro corporativo, Nemak, Prolec GE, Steris Corporation, and Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, among other companies.

She was the director of the Urbana-CEDIIA Center and of the Strategic Projects Area of the Art, Architecture, and Design Division at the Universidad de Monterrey. She has also served as a consultant with the ABRE Center, CONACyT, and the Tecnológico de Monterrey, to name a few institutions.

She has participated with research papers and posters at the Latin American Ecodesign Network in Santiago de Chile, and at the International Seminar on Urban Planning, among other events. She has also collaborated as a paper reviewer for the International Network for Design Research. She is a member of the scientific committee of the International Journal on Systemic Design Research RDIS, Spain. Additionally, she has acted as a reviewer in International Congresses and Forums on Design and Systems.

She is the author of the book “Introducción al Ecodiseño de Empaque” (Introduction to Package Ecodesign), published by the ABRE Center, and of a chapter of the book “Gestión y mejora de procesos, temas acciones y aplicaciones” (Management and Improvement of Processes, Issues, Actions, and Applications), from Editorial TAbook, as well as of various congress reports.

She has been a professor in the Industrial Engineering, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Architecture, and Industrial Design undergraduate degree programs at the Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora, UVM, the Center for Higher Studies in Design of Monterrey (CEDIM), and the Universidad de Monterrey. She is a consultant in Eco Design courses for the packaging and product industries for various clients and centers.

She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Eco Design and Accessibility at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and at the Universidad de Jaén, both in Spain, with concentrations in Energy Challenge and Environmental Challenge, respectively.
