Steps to enter

Get acquainted with the requirements to join the CRGS.

For undergraduate degree programs

Submit documentation

Submit all necessary documentation to the Office for New Students:

  • Hand in duly completed and signed Application for Admission at the Office for New Students. [Download PDF application]
  • A copy of original birth certificate, issued in the current year
  • A copy of C.U.R.P.
  • A copy of official id of applicant (INE card, passport).
  • A copy of official id of payer of tuition (INE card, passport).
  • A copy of proof of address (issued within three months of current date, only water, electricity, and telephone bills will be accepted).
  • Four recent black-and-white photographs (3 X 2.5 cm / 1 ¼” X 1”), no snapshots, with your name on the back.
  • Original high school diploma or original certificate of recognition of high school education.
  • If applicable, official certificate of recognition of incomplete university studies.
  • Prior to payment of registration fee, you must submit the following document: Terms and Conditions for Admission and Permanence in the Universidad de Monterrey.

If course of study is still underway, submit updated transcripts and grades from current period, signed or seal in accordance with the following instructions:

3-YEAR SEMESTER PLAN

Months: September – December
Transcripts up to the 4th semester and grade report of the 5th semester.
Months: January – August
Transcripts up to the 5th semester and grade report of the 6th semester.

2-YEAR SEMESTER PLAN

Months: August – December
Transcripts up to the 2nd semester and grade report for the 3rd semester.
Months: January – August
Transcript up to the 3rd semester and grade report of the 4th semester.

TWO-YEAR FOUR-MONTH TERM PLAN

Months: September – December
Transcripts up to the 3rd semester and grade report of the 4th semester
Months: January – April
Transcripts up to the 4th semester and grade report of the 5th semester.
Months: May – August:
Transcripts up to the 5th semester and grade report of the 6th semester.

- If applicant has pursued studies abroad, submit the corresponding transcripts (10th for first and second semester, 11th for the third and fourth semesters, and 12th for the fifth and sixth semesters).

- If applicable, Certificate of Recognition of High School Education or Equivalency (the interested party should process this certificate with the SEP).


You must submit the following original documents at the time of final registration:

  • A copy of original birth certificate, issued in the current year.
  • Authenticated original high school certificate.

If you are a Prepa UDEM graduate, you must submit your duly updated and signed application for admission, a copy of your original birth certificate, issued in the current year, a copy of the CURP, and the four photos, at the Office for New Students.  

If you are a foreigner, check what specific documentation you must submit.

*The student should submit the photographs, recent copy of original birth certificate, high school certificate, and Certificate of Recognition or equivalence, as appropriate, within a period of 20 working days after the beginning of classes. These documents should be certified by Department of Higher Education or bear an apostille from the Department of Certifications from the government of the state where the student pursued his/her studies.

Take entrance examination

The required entrance examination is the Academic Aptitude Test (PAA), which measures aptitudes in the verbal and mathematical areas.

  • Candidates for the IISE, LA, LDI and LINT programs of the VIAAD that obtain between 1000 and 1199 points in the PAA and meet the required average score, may be admitted presenting a portfolio to the corresponding Academic Program Director, the portfolio will be evaluated for admission.
  • Candidates for the ARQ, LDG and LDTM programs of the VIAAD who obtain between 1000 and 1149 points in the PAA and meet the required average score, may be admitted by presenting a portfolio to the corresponding Academic Program Director, the portfolio will be evaluated for admission.

Consult the entrance exam dates and the dates of the academic test preparation courses. Additionally, consult the study guide to take the PAA (Academic Aptitude Test).

You have two opportunities to pass the PAA. If you do not pass it the first time, you will have to wait for at least a month before taking it again.

PAA in other institutions

If the exam was taken at a different institution, it will be considered as valid if you submit an official document mentioning the score obtained in each one of the areas as well as the overall score. Validity is one year. SAT results will be accepted if you submit the original report and you obtained the minimum score required, equivalent to the PAA.

Submit rest of documentation upon acceptance to UDEM

After you are given your result on the entrance examination and if you passed it, submit original copies of the following documentation at the Office for New Students, so as to complete your admission process to the University:

  • A copy of birth certificate, issued in the current year.
  • Authenticated original high school certificate.

If you do not have your high school certificate authenticated by the Secretariat of Public Education, submit a copy of your full transcripts or a certificate of completion of studies.

The deadline to submit these document is 20 days after the beginning of classes. If you fail to submit them, your admission to the university will be rescinded and your semester of study will not be valid.

Paying preregistration fee

Pay the preregistration fee through any of the following options:

  • By check, debit card, or credit card at the Office for New Students.
  • Through the Internet, logging in to the UDEM Portal with your account and password.
  • Printing out the deposit slip off the UDEM Portal and paying at a branch of Banorte, Banamex, Bancomer, HSBC, Scotiabank, or Santander. Consult the file “Complete your preregistration step by step.”
  • To obtain your account and password, reach the Office for New Students at (81) 8215-1010 or call our toll-free line at 01 800-801-UDEM ext. 1010.

Preregistration fee: $4,000.00

Complete class schedule

In order to define your class schedule, you must make an appointment with the director of your Academic Program for counseling. Contact the Office for New Students at (81) 8215-1010 or call our toll-free line at 01 800-801-UDEM ext. 1010 to make the appointment.

Paying registration fee

Pay the registration fee through any of the following options:

  • By check, debit card, or credit card, at the CIAA – The Center for Information Services and Student Services
    • CIAA opening hours – Main Administrative Building: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, 10:00 to 2:00 p.m., by appointment only. For appointments, call 8215-1020.
  • Through the Internet, logging in to the UDEM Portal with your account and password.
  • Printing out the deposit slip off the UDEM Portal and paying at a branch of Banamex, Banorte, or Santander.

Attend the “Gente UDEM” initiation event

Your initiation into university life will be on (to be defined). On that day, you will interact with the director of your degree program and the Dean of your Division. You will also learn about all the services and resources that you have at your disposal as a student of this institution. Additionally, you will have the opportunity of meeting and interacting with fellow new students. Your participation in this process is mandatory.

On the other hand, on (to be defined) your parents are invited to attend an event in which the President speaks of the University’s vision and the most relevant projects that have been undertaken in the last few years. He also introduces the different deans and directors of the institution. Any queries that your parents may have can be answered at this event and, therefore, their attendance is important.

For graduate level programs

​​​Get acquainted with the requirements to enter the UDEM Graduate programs.

  1. Hold an undergraduate degree and submit the documents that prove the completion of that course of study.

  2. Have work experience (please go over the requirements for the program that interests you).

  3. Have an interview with the director of the graduate program.

  4. E-mail up-to-date résumé to [email protected] or hand it in to your graduate level advisor. In the case of the Master in Graphic Design program, a work portfolio should be submitted*.

  5. Create your profile on the SER UDEM platform.

  6. Pass the Graduate Level Admission Competency Level Evaluation (ECIP), which is exclusive for applicants to our UDEM Graduate programs. Request information at [email protected], tel. 8215 1000 ext. 1535, 1648, 1748, and 1109.

  7. If you are a foreigner, you must send a copy of your FM3 immigration form.

  8. Opening hours at the Graduate Level Liaising Department is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Documents required to apply for admission

  • A copy of original birth certificate, issued in the current year. If you are a foreigner, the document should be apostilled.
  • An authenticated copy of original official certificate of undergraduate education.
  • A legible copy of both sides of professional license. *
  • A legible copy of both sides of undergraduate degree diploma.
  • A legible copy of CURP.
  • Four recent black-and-white photographs (3 X 2.5 cm / 1 ¼” X 1”) (no snapshots).
  • A copy of official id of applicant (INE, passport).
  • A copy of proof of address (issued within three months of current date, only water, electricity, and telephone bills will be accepted).
  • Prior to payment of registration fee, you must sign and submit the document Terms and Conditions for Admission and Permanence in the Universidad de Monterrey.

* If the candidate does not have a degree diploma and professional license, he/she must submit proof that process to obtain them is underway. Such document will only be valid for the current term.

Foreign students must submit a current copy of their FM3 Immigration Form and a letter of no criminal record from their country.

Applicants who pursued studies abroad must submit documents equivalent to those described above, which will have to be authenticated by the Mexican Consulate, certified by the Higher Education Department, or apostilled at the certifications department of their country of origin.

These documents must be submitted to the Office of Liaising of the Graduate Level Area, which is located on the third floor of the main administrative building, or they can be sent at least two months in advance of the start of the academic term when the candidate wishes to join the university, to the following address:

Graduate Level Admission Evaluation

If you are interested in entering a graduate program, you must pass the Graduate Level Admission Competency Level Evaluation (ECIP), which is a diagnostic tool applied exclusively to candidates willing to pursue one of the academic programs of the UDEM Graduate Level area.
