Biography
Dr. Carlos Ramírez is a full-time professor at the Universidad de Monterrey in the Sustainable Innovation and Energy Engineering and Industrial Design undergraduate degree programs. He teaches courses in Sustainable Engineering, Morphology, Creativity Studies, Solids Modelling, and Parametric Drawing.
His interests focus on the fields of product development, creativity and innovation, sustainability, and solar concentration, to name a few. During the course of his studies, he participated in research projects with funds from the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACyT) and the Mexican Center for Innovation in Solar Power (CeMIE-Sol) in the area of concentrated solar power harvesting. The projects included ElecSol-TD and Storage Tanks for Thermal Solar Power. He was a member of the “STEV-1” research cathedra, whose objective was to develop a solar-powered vehicle.
He is the author of several scientific articles published in journals such as Optics Express, International Journal of Photoenergy, and Energy Procedia. He has been a speaker at various congresses on solar power, notably the “ISES Solar World Congress 2013” in Mexico and the “4th IFIP WG 5.4 Working Conference, CAI 2011” in France. He is the author of a patent, MX/2011/007913, and he has received awards at industrial design competitions.
