Biography
Alejandro graduated with an undergraduate degree in Digital Graphic Design Engineering from Universidad de Monterrey in 2008, and earned his degree of Master of Art in Image Synthesis and Computer Animation from Universitat de les Illes Balears in Spain, in 2011.
He has pursued studies in Creating and Styling CG Hair; Advanced Character Facial and Body Rigging; Compositing for Feature Animation; Look Development and Image Based Lighting; Digital Matte Painting; Scripting & Tool Development for Maya; Cloth Simulation; Lighting and Shading with Arnold; Rigging and Character FX; Executive Production of Animation Short Films, Series and Feature Films; and Visual Effects with Houdini, with industry professionals who have worked in studios like Blizzard Entertainment, Digital Domain, Blur Studios, Naughty Dog, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Rhythm & Hues, Animal Logic, ILM, Digital Domain, Double Negative, DreamWorks Animation, Framestore, Weta Digital, Electronic Arts, and MPC, to name a few.
Since 2011 he is a full time professor in the Animation and Digital Effects undergraduate degree, teaching courses on 3D Modeling, 3D Animation, Texturing, Lighting, Rigging, Preproduction, 3D Animation Short Film Production, and Digital Effects. He has supervised more than 60 animation and visual effects short films. Since 2018, he is a member of the Animation Committee of the Monterrey Interactive Media and Entertainment Cluster (MIMEC).
He has worked in a large number of projects in animation, motion graphics, multimedia, visual effects and videogames for companies and institutions like Universidad de Monterrey, Tecnológico de Monterrey, 3 Museos, EISEI Media, AMS Media, ENNUI Studio, Tres Multimedia, and Dam Short Film Festival. Also he has taught lectures and workshops in events like Congreso UDESIGN: Metamorphosis, Congreso AREA by MIMEC “Boundary Breakers”, Ciclo de Conferencias “REDIX”, and Foro de la Virtualidad in Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Nowadays he combines his teaching work with the production of 3D animation short films in collaboration with students, alumni, professors and professionals. In 2017 he finished the short film “Midnight Runway”, which was selected in 16 film festivals around the world, in countries like Mexico, Belgium, Romania, United States, Scotland, India, Italy and Switzerland, and earned awards like the Audience Award in the Feel the Reel International Film Festival, a High Visual Quality Award in the AREA’s Short Film Night, a Golden Palm Award in Mexico International Film Festival, and a Silver Mention in Premio a! Diseño, in the animation category.
