Biography
Javier Topete specializes in trend research, content design and contemporary fashion analysis.
He studied the Bachelor's Degree in Textile and Fashion Design at the University of Monterrey, where he co-founded COVERT, a fashion brand of atemporal design for men and women.
Focused on increasing and strengthening his expertise in luxury brands, he completed his master's degree in International Luxury and Brand Management at Rennes School of Business, in the city of Rennes, France.
Subsequently, he was part of the inspiration department of Puig, a Spanish company specialized in the creation and marketing of fashion and perfumes. Here he focused on trend research, creation of inspirational content and creative advice for the creative development of the marketing teams of brands such as Prada, Comme des Garçons, Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier, among others.
He also has extensive experience in the design and coordination of workshops, conferences and talks with leading figures in the fashion, design and art industry such as Imran Amed, Gaspar Noé, David Méndez Alonso of Outsiders Division, Anthea Hamilton, among others.
At the University, he currently teaches courses of Introduction to Fashion, Creative Direction, Fashion Marketing, Visual Merchandising and Fashion Portfolio. He also founded Yellow Yournal, an editorial space that seeks to empower young creative talent. By providing fresh information with a critical point of view, this semiannual publication connects students from Fashion and Textile Design with the industry, and encourages conversations that push fashion into new territories.
