Discover the Roberto Garza Sada Center: An Icon of Art, Architecture, and Design
The Roberto Garza Sada Center for Art, Architecture, and Design (CRGS) at the University of Monterrey is more than just a building; it is an iconic space dedicated to fostering creativity, innovation, and the appreciation of beauty. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, this monumental building is his first public work in Latin America and was named by him as the “Gate of Creation.”
The CRGS honors the memory of Monterrey businessman and philanthropist Roberto Garza Sada, a visionary committed to cultural and creative development. The center is celebrated as a masterpiece of contemporary architecture, with a minimalist design that masterfully balances light, shadow, and space to inspire its visitors.
Exploring the CRGS Through Guided Tours
The guided tours at the CRGS offer a unique opportunity to learn about the history, design, and philosophy behind this iconic building. Open to the general public, these tours are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 to 11:30 am, starting from the lobby (in front of Gallery 1).
Since January, the CRGS has welcomed hundreds of visitors from Mexico and abroad, including corporate, academic, and cultural groups who have been captivated by this space dedicated to art and architecture.
A Space for the Creative Community
Beyond guided tours, the CRGS hosts a vibrant creative community with exhibitions, workshops, and events designed to inspire students, professionals, and the general public. Its architecture, characterized by clean lines and a focus on the interplay of light and space, makes it an ideal venue for learning, reflection, and artistic exploration.
