  • UDEM students, alumni, and faculty made a strong impact at Mexico City’s Art Week through their participation in Material Art Fair and Zona MACO, showcasing innovative work across art and design disciplines. Their presence, including sold-out exhibitions, highlighted UDEM’s growing influence in the national art scene and its ongoing commitment to cultural engagement.

Alumni and current students from the University of Monterrey and the Roberto Garza Sada Center successfully participated in Material Art Fair and Zona MACO during Mexico City’s Art Week, held from February 5 to 9 in various cultural venues across the city.

The recent presence of UDEM students and alumni at both Material Art Fair and Zona MACO highlighted the exceptional quality of their work and their growing influence within Mexico’s cultural scene.

Graduates from multiple Art and Design programs at UDEM had a strong presence at both national-level events, representing the university across a variety of disciplines. The Bachelor of Arts program was featured in Material Art Fair, while Zona MACO included work from Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, and graduate programs from the School of Art and Design.

Amparo Vázquez, Academic Director of the Bachelor of Arts program, emphasized that this participation reflects UDEM’s ongoing commitment to the national cultural landscape.

“It’s important to highlight how our students, graduates, and faculty are becoming an active part of the country’s cultural scene, representing UDEM in some of the most prestigious spaces,” she said.

At Material Art Fair, UDEM showcased an exhibition featuring four alumni selected for their outstanding trajectories. Among them, Andrés Anza participated in UDEM’s exhibition booth and also presented work at Zona ACME and Zona MACO.

“They were selected based on their professional achievements,” explained Vázquez, noting that this highlighted the dedication and talent of UDEM’s graduates.

Paula Cortazar also exhibited three pieces at UDEM’s booth in Material Art Fair. Emiliano Ezkauriatza participated in both Material and at Naranjo 141 gallery, while Inés Avendaño exhibited exclusively at the UDEM booth. Avendaño had also recently presented her work at Argentina’s National Bank.

Current student Andrea Sánchez Córdoba took part in the exhibition space Clavo, located in the La Laguna arts complex. Similarly, Camila Izaguirre—UDEM Arts Center collaborator and Arts graduate—exhibited at the Siempre Sí cultural complex. Professors Cristian Camacho and Lucía Vidales were also featured at both Zona MACO and Material.

As part of an academic program at the Rufino Tamayo Museum during Material Art Fair, UDEM hosted a conference series titled Affective Constellations.
In Zona MACO, student projects from the Industrial Design, Graphic Design, and Fashion Design programs—including jewelry, bags, clothing, and furniture—stood out for their creativity and innovation. The fair provided a valuable platform for students to present their work to a broader audience.

UDEM alumni who took part in these events demonstrated their ability to thrive in the national art scene shortly after graduation. Emiliano Ezkauriatza and Andrés Anza sold all of their pieces at the galleries where they exhibited—an indication of the strong preparation they received at UDEM.

“This gives us an important clue that we’re on the right path as an institution and as a degree program in the Arts,” Vázquez commented.
UDEM and the Roberto Garza Sada Center will continue to strengthen their presence in key spaces within the contemporary art world and are already preparing to participate in Mexico City’s Art Week in 2026.
